Communication Week gives students a chance to interact with alumni and learn about communication.

Communication Week begins Monday, Feb. 25 and continues through Friday, Feb. 29. The week focuses on providing opportunities for recent alumni to interact with students in the School of Communication.

During Communication Week, students will be invited to attend speakers. "We have a variety of programs," Dr. Cutbirth, associate professor in the School of Communication and head of Communication Week, said.

There will be a series of programs that include topics such as how to get your first job in public relations and career opportunities in radio. "There is something that would appeal to all majors and minors in the School of Communication," Colette Kuk, a Communication Week intern and sophomore public relations major, said. There will be the Lambda Pi Eta School of Communication Awards Program Thursday, Feb. 28. This will be held in the Bone Student Center in the Circus Room from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Prior to the awards ceremony, alumni will be in Fell 158 to talk to students and give them advice. This session will begin at 11 a.m. Communication week is also promoting WZND's internship career fair for radio personnel. Students are also encouraged to attend the McHale Film Festival that will be held Monday at 7 p.m.

"One of the things we are most excited about is a one on one session with various people that will evaluate the students' resumes," Cutbirth said. This event is titled "Sharpening your Focus: Is Your Resume Up to Par?" It will be held in Fell 420 Tuesday Feb. 26 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Communication Week gives students a different perspective on information from the communication world. Students receive information from professionals outside of ISU's School of Communication faculty. Cutbirth said it is an "alternate delivery system for information." He also added that people working outside of ISU in the communication field have insight that faculty at ISU may not have. If students want to become more involved in Communication Week, they can apply for a Communication Week internship. Applications will be available after Spring Break.

"Communication Week gives students a chance to attend different programs that contain information that they may not have the opportunity to cover in the classroom. It also gives students an opportunity to learn from former successful students," Kuk said.

Communication Week programs are available in the lobby of Fell Hall as well as in Fell 450.
