General manager of the Daily Vidette, Rick Jones, presented Jeff Kraft, class of 1981, Janelle Pettit, class of 2002, and Kristen McQueary, class of 1995, awards at the Daily Vidette Hall of Fame Induction Dinner on Saturday evening. Carl Hulse, class of 1976, was also inducted but was unable to attend.

Present and past generations of the Daily Vidette family came together Saturday night to honor four Daily Vidette hall of fame inductees. This is the first year for the hall of fame. Inducting new members will happen every two years, with the next induction in 2009. "What better way to start the hall of fame than during our 120th year celebration of the Daily Vidette," Rick Jones, Daily Vidette general manager, said.

Choosing the first four recipients for the hall of fame was a tough choice, initially beginning with 36 possible inductees. The hall of fame board narrowed the candidates down to four inductees. Because of their career achievements, Carl Hulse, Jeff Kraft, Kristen McQueary and Janelle Pettit were those chosen.

Hulse was unable to attend the hall of fame dinner due to his busy work schedule. Hulse is currently the chief congressional correspondent for Capitol Hill for the New York Times. Hulse is known for his sense of humor. As the ISU alumni magazine reported last year, this sign hangs above The New York Times computer in the corner of the Capitol pressroom:"Know-Nothing Reporter Writes Another Meaningless Story on Short Notice."

Kraft is currently the chief marketing officer of Dominican University in west suburban Chicago. After graduating from ISU, Kraft moved to France and taught English at a top Paris preparatory school as a Fulbright teaching assistant. In 1999, "Literary Paris," a collection of his photography and travel essays about the French capital, was published and distributed worldwide. "All the students should make the most of their time at the Vidette. I spent my whole career trying to re-create the work environment at the Vidette. Enjoy it while you can," Kraft said.
